On the occasion of marking the 30th anniversary of the Activities of the Croatian Association for Psychosocial Oncology, Sophrology and Art Therapy (CAPOSART), and the 24th anniversary of these traditional international symposia, the Croatian Association for Psychosocial Oncology, Sophrology and Art Therapies in cooperation with university and other institutions from Croatia and the World, is preparing the eleventh International symposium “Art and Science in the Development of Life Potential” – which will be held in Croatia , in the convention halls of the four stars hotel “HOLY CROSS” / “SVETI KRIŽ” , on the island of Čiovo near Trogir.
Twenty four years ago (from May 23rd until 28th , 1999) in the exclusive convention halls in the hotels Amphora and Palace , and in the beautiful interior of the Old Theatre (the oldest preserved Public Theatre in Europe) in the city of Hvar on the island bearing the same name , one of the cradles of Renaissance cultural movement in this part of Mediterranean, the first International Symposium on Arts and Science in Life Potential Development was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian League against Cancer, the International Union against Cancer (UICC) , with the support of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences University in Zagreb and the Open Society Institute in Croatia and in collaboration with Merville University Saint Louis in USA. The events at this symposium were presented in daily newspapers and news in Croatian national TV programs.

On that occasion , s o p h r o l o g y is presented as an elegant neologism, an attractive blend of “Eastern and Western Philosophies” and an innovative complementary thought and discipline of the new epoch aimed at developing holistic, prophylactic, educational and therapeutic approaches in discovering and supporting life potentials. It is emphasized as well, that the first World congress on sophrology was held two years earlier (from March 8th -11th , 1997) in the Center for International Meetings ( Centre de Rencontres Internationales) in the Principality of Monaco . Under the auspices of Princess Antoinette de Monaco , it was held in cooperation with the French Association of Sophrology, the Japanese Society of Sophrology , the Mediterranean Institute of Human Science, the Colombian Foundation for the Development of Sophrology , the University of Bogota in Colombia, and other institutions.
